Each class goes on an outing in the first term J usually to the Gonubie river where the children get to know each other and explore for natural things from the outdoor for our classroom’s nature table.
During the second term we have our annual cake sale – great fun for the children as they get the opportunity to come to school dressed up as an adult!! They bring their own money and come shopping for goodies (which is all donated by generous parents) the money raised at this event goes straight back into the school for classroom equipment.
During the 3rd term we have visits from the police, fire department and the ambulance!! This is great excitement for the children and they get a chance to have a ride in these vehicles too.
We also have our fashion show combined with heritage day in the 3rd term – children all dress up in their heritage clothes and model for their parents. Besides an excellent fund raiser – this event really builds up the children’s confidence. After the show the parents and children have the opportunity to buy food (generously donated by parents) and to socialise, funds raised at this event go straight back into the school.
During the 4th term we have our “100 steps day” this started in 2007 when Montessori celebrated their centenary year. All Montessori schools around the world were asked to get their children to try and walk 100 step!! This had to be logged and sent to London. All the steps of all the children around the world were calculated to see if the Montessori children around the world would add up to walking around the world. This event was such a success that we have continued with this event on an annual basis. (Oct ) every year.
The year ends with our year end concert and graduation!! This is our highlight of the year. Every child in our school is in a dance (cariographed by Ms Sheila – who went to dance and drama school) this show is of exceptional high standard!! After the show Santa comes with presents for all to end of the year.
